The Legendary Wamphoofus

High along the ridgelines of Mount Mansfield, where granite meets sky, there roamed a Wampahoofus unlike the rest.

Half deer, half wild boar, Wampahoofus was built for impossible terrain; antlers like winter branches, tusks like hand-forged iron, hooves made for balance on the steepest slopes of Vermont. But he wasn’t known for brute strength. He was known for craft.

Legend says that where his split hooves pressed into the mountainside, the land settled level. Timber aligned. Stone found purpose. Clearings became gathering places; refined yet rooted, wild yet intentional.

Over time, innkeepers and hosts came to believe that StoneWood marked the places meant for elevated hospitality. Where guests could stand beneath open sky and still feel the polish of something thoughtfully made.
